This remote area ( fourth largest province in Spain) specializes in organized days of “Caza Mayor” being red deer and or wild boar shooting or days of “Caza Menor” the red legged Spanish partridge, pigeon, quail and dove shooting.
The area between Trujillo and Caceres comprises of some 35,000 hectares, where conservation is as important as shooting itself which has been continuously practised for many many years.

The undulating terrain (still farmed over substantially large acreages ) is perfect for providing challenging driven partridge shooting and produces high and testing birds. Good bags are consistently achieved by the high standards of long-established keepering and the facility for estates to still be able to find and use a large number of well disciplined beaters.

The days shooting starts at about 10.00 o'clock, is organised in a seemingly relaxed but highly efficient manner, secretario & loader close by your side. You are extremely well fed with a generous breakfast, tasty tapas at mid morning, followed by a sumptuous luncheon at the end of the day. Guns would number from 8 to 10 and bag numbers are achieved with alarming efficiency (arranged by opening and closing the beaters line just a few degrees) and the only problem I could see might be the temptation to be intoxicated with excitement and thus become involved with serious overage!

A 300 partridge day is the minimum bag and up to a 1,200 day is available or any configuration in between.

There are three shoots we recommend and the writer has had the good fortune to attend a day on each shoot. The shooting takes place about 30 mins from the front door of Villa Sta. Maria.

As from 2011 Trujillo Espana is delighted to offer a special rate for small shooting week end parties. This includes a 3 night stay in Casa de Sta. Maria with all food and drink provided. Parties of 9 guns (+ wives or partners) are able to stay in the luxuriously comfortable suites which have been recently renovated. A supplement for the additional wives or partners is charged.

Further accommodation for non shooters can be arranged on request as there are plenty of interesting things to do in the local area. All transport needs can be arranged on request.

Some General guidelines concerning shooting.
Documentation, booking deposits, payments and cancellation terms must be contracted direct with the shoot organiser. Please remember that 3rd party shooting insurance is obligatory and you are advised to get full travel insurance.

The team leader should agree a bag limit and a consequent overage terms The earlier shooting is booked ,the more likely you are to avoid disappointment.
