Directions by Car from Madrid Airport T1 & T4 at Barajas to Trujillo

Trujillo is situated 254km south west from Madrid in Extremadura, approximately a 2 - 2.5 hour drive from the airport.

The directions are as follows:

1. On leaving the airport terminal, follow the sign Madrid Sur / Salidas and follow signs to the M30 and M40

2. After about 1 mile you will see that this road splits into two - the M30 to Madrid (right) and the M40 (left)

3. Stay on the M40 for about 8 - 10 miles, always following the direction of R5 towards Badajoz.

4. After about 8 - 10 miles there is a turning off the M40 sign posted R5 (R5 is a toll motorway) marked BADAJOZ.

5. You should now be on the R5 which becomes the A5. This is the road that you will follow until you get to Trujillo. You are now approximately 220km from Trujillo.

6. Keep following A5 towards Badajoz. Major towns you will pass on the way include: Talavera de la Reina > Oropesa >Navalmoral de la Mata > Almaraz.

7. After Almaraz you will go through a tunnel at the top of the hill. Keep going, following signs for Trujillo.

8. There are 2 exit junctions for Trujillo off the motorway. (take the second turning)

9. Once off the motorway, the slip road you come into is the E208 Avenida de la Virgen de Guadalupe. Take a right at the bottom of the slip road towards Trujillo. You will be able to see the Castle up in front of you. You will be heading up to the top of the town.

10. Follow the E208 towards Trujillo. This is less than 1.5 km / 3 minutes journey. You will get to a cross roads just after the bullring on your left. Cross over the cross roads and head straight over, towards “Centro Ciudad” or town centre “Plaza Mayor” main square. From this point you will receive separate instructions, depending on where you are staying.
